Summary

The Missing & Absent Student Policy & Procedure outlines how British Guardianship responds when a student under 18 cannot be located. It prioritises student safety and requires all adults to supervise closely, complete risk assessments for outings, and maintain secure premises. If a child is discovered missing, adults must immediately search the area, request assistance, alert venue staff, and contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead. Younger children require faster escalation. If the student remains unlocated, the police and parents are informed without delay. Once found, a welfare check is completed and a full investigation is conducted, including written statements and lessons learned for future prevention.
