Summary

The Online Safety Policy sets out how British Guardianship protects students, staff, and homestays when using the internet and digital technologies. It outlines expectations for safe, responsible online behaviour, including appropriate communication, secure handling of personal data, and professional conduct on social media. Students receive clear guidance on avoiding online risks such as cyberbullying, grooming, and exposure to harmful or illegal content. All online safety concerns are treated as safeguarding issues and must be reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. The policy also addresses staff misconduct, e‑safety regulations, and the management of complaints relating to inappropriate internet use.

To make sure this policy always reflects the highest standards of student care, it is reviewed and updated every year in line with UK safeguarding requirements and the standards set by our accrediting bodies, AEGIS and the Boarding Schools' Association (BSA). This annual review ensures our approach keeps pace with changes in legislation, official guidance, and best practice, including the evolving nature of online risks, so that students, parents, and schools can be confident our procedures remain current and effective.
