The Safeguarding Children & Child Protection Policy outlines how British Guardianship protects students from harm through prevention, early identification, and effective response. It emphasises staff responsibilities, safer recruitment, recognising signs of abuse, responding to disclosures, and reporting concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. The policy covers all forms of abuse, including physical, emotional, sexual, neglect, grooming, online abuse and child sexual exploitation. Clear procedures guide information‑sharing, confidentiality, referral to statutory agencies, handling allegations, and supporting children and staff involved in safeguarding matters. Annual training, rigorous record‑keeping, and cooperation with AEGIS and statutory authorities ensure a consistent, robust safeguarding framework.

To make sure this policy always reflects the highest standards of student care, it is reviewed and updated every year in line with UK safeguarding requirements and the standards set by our accrediting bodies, AEGIS and the Boarding Schools' Association (BSA). This annual review ensures our approach keeps pace with changes in legislation, official guidance, and best practice, including the evolving nature of online risks, so that students, parents, and schools can be confident our procedures remain current and effective.
